Empowering Lives Through Artificial Intelligence: A Workshop on AI for Autism and Intellectual Disabilities

The Department of Computer Science, Queen Mary's College, Chennai, in collaboration with the Confederation of Associations for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (CAPID), organized a one-day workshop on "Application of AI in Empowering Persons with Autism & Intellectual Disabilities." The event brought together educators, special parents, technology enthusiasts, and professionals to explore how Artificial Intelligence can transform the lives of individuals with developmental and intellectual challenges.

About the WorkshopHeld at Velu Nachaiar Hall, Queen Mary's College, the workshop focused on the growing role of AI in creating inclusive learning environments, improving communication, and enhancing independence for persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Intellectual Disabilities (ID). Participants gained insights into innovative AI-powered tools, assistive technologies, and practical applications that can support education, therapy, and daily living.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. B. Umamaheshwari, Principal, Queen Mary's College, whose presence highlighted the institution's commitment to inclusive education and social impact. The event was coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Sasikala, Head of the Department of Computer Science, and Mrs. Catherine Inbaraj, President of CAPID.
